Two Years in New Zealand
Oh hi there, it’s been a while… Almost three years since I last updated this blog, wow. This post is long overdue but better late than never, right? Soooo where have I been?
Oh hi there, it’s been a while… Almost three years since I last updated this blog, wow. This post is long overdue but better late than never, right? Soooo where have I been?
In 2018 I spent nine months backpacking around Asia. Although I have already shared my travel diaries from every country, I also really wanted to do one big post summarising this trip (before the new year starts and brings a completely new adventure 😀 ). So here we are, looking back at my backpacking trip one more time. Plus, I am finally sharing exactly how much money I spent in each country! After all, that’s probably the number one question…
Finally, Bali. The last destination of my 2018 Asia trip. I ended up staying in Bali for two months and even though I was basically living there rather than travelling, I still managed to see quite a few places and had some awesome experiences on this Indonesian island. I am by no means a Bali expert but if you are looking for some inspiration for your Bali itinerary, here’s my Bali diary!
It has already been a year since I went to Myanmar (where did the time go?!) but I want to have the series of my travel diaries from Asia complete so here we are. 🙂 Myanmar surprisingly became one of my favourite countries in the world so I’m excited to finally share this part of my travel diary with you. If you are curious what I did in this truly unique Southeast Asian country, grab a cup of tea and…
The capital city is usually one of the main places you want to see in every country, right? Well, that’s not the case in Myanmar. Naypyidaw (also spelt Nay Pyi Taw) is Myanmar’s new capital city, built completely artificially. And it’s a ghost town. We were intrigued by the mystical place no one visits and where almost no one lives… so we decided to come to Naypyidaw. Here’s my experience with one of the most bizarre places I have ever…
Is it safe to visit Myanmar? Is it ethical to travel to Myanmar? These are the questions you might be asking if you are considering a trip to the least touristy destination in Southeast Asia. If you are following me on Instagram or if you’ve read any of my previous articles about Myanmar, you will already know that my answer to “Should you visit Myanmar?” is a resounding yes. Here’s why I refuse to boycott travelling to Myanmar.
Trekking to Inle Lake is one of must-do activities in Myanmar. I actually didn’t know this before coming to Myanmar and only heard about it from a fellow traveller once I was in the country – and I’m really glad I decided to do this trek because it ended up being one of my best experiences in Asia! Here’s all about my 3-day trek from Kalaw to Inle Lake.
Myanmar is still a relatively new travel destination – it officially opened to tourists in 2011. This makes it a very unique and authentic place to visit and I can only recommend putting this beautiful country on your bucket list! If you don’t know what to expect, here are some things you should know before going to Myanmar:
Thailand is a country where my entire nine-month backpacking adventure started and also the only country I visited twice during this long trip (I don’t think the repeated airport layovers in Kuala Lumpur really count). While the first time I only explored the capital city, Bangkok, and the north of Thailand – Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai, this time I wanted to see the south.
If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you know that besides posting all kinds of travel tips and guides I also have my travel diary section where I tell you everything I did and and saw in each country I visited. So even though I have already written a few articles about Singapore and Malaysia, it seems appropriate to also give you the whole breakdown of my travel itinerary for these two countries.
