Two Years in New Zealand
Oh hi there, it’s been a while… Almost three years since I last updated this blog, wow. This post is long overdue but better late than never, right? Soooo where have I been?
You might be thinking the reason I abandoned my travel blog is obvious – the pandemic. Travel has been heavily restricted worldwide and therefore there was nothing to write about… right? Wrong. I didn’t update my blog in so long not because I wasn’t travelling but because I WAS SO BUSY TRAVELLING.
Confused?
Long story short, I spent the entire pandemic – two years to be exact – in New Zealand. I arrived there on a Working Holiday visa (originally for one year) in February 2020, right before the madness started. Also right before New Zealand’s borders closed completely to all international visitors.
Let me tell you, New Zealand was the perfect place to hide away during this time. Covid was almost non-existent here and apart from a few short lockdowns, life in this country stayed pretty normal. It was also allowed to travel domestically. Without all the international tourist crowds I had a lot of time and space to explore this beautiful country from top to bottom. I didn’t have to worry about money since my visa allowed me to work here, so I combined exploring with work (mostly on orchards).
I had a blast.
I wanted to blog about it, I really did. But I also wanted to film it, which is where my focus has been the most lately. Unfortunately, it’s just not possible to do it all: take and edit photos, write articles, create videos and post on Instagram while being on the road (and often living in the car), working and travelling. And, you know, I also like to sleep…
I quickly realised there was no way to keep up with all these channels, especially when I wanted to enjoy my time in possibly the most breathtaking country in the world. I simply had to choose between my blog and my Youtube channel.
And I chose my Youtube channel.
Unfortunately for you, all my videos are in Czech – I simply prioritised the audience coming from the same country as me this time. It just seemed to be the most natural option for me as well as the best way to update my family and friends about my travels when I was on the other side of the world. Sorry!
However, I documented my entire working holiday very thoroughly. So if you don’t mind a bit of Czech commentary, you can still check out what I created in New Zealand 🙂
Alternatively, I have posted loads of New Zealand pictures on my Instagram page – and I still continue posting them because OF COURSE I took thousands and thousands of photos in these two years…
Will I ever write any blog posts about New Zealand? I don’t know. I would like to but if I’m completely honest, it’s not my priority at the moment. I just feel like I have already “processed” this whole journey through my videos…
For now, I’m at least leaving this one video here which summarises my two years in New Zealand. There is hardly any talking in the video, only a little bit at the beginning and you can turn on English subtitles for that. 🙂
That’s all I wanted to share for now. Just a simple update to keep you in the loop 🙂
