January. That time of the year when people are reflecting on their lives and creating various resolutions (of course you’ll go to the gym every day now, we believe you…) but I’m not here to talk about my New year’s resolutions.
I want to talk about my last year’s one.
Exactly a year ago, I decided to change my life. I only had one New Year’s resolution: To make my travel dreams happen.
I promised myself 2017 would be the year I would save money, quit my job, minimise what I own instead of buying more things, move out of London, buy a one-way flight ticket to Asia and start planning the travels I had been postponing for “someday”.
One year later and I have crossed all of the above off my to-do list. (Oh, and started a travel blog. Obvs.)
So here I am, counting down the days till my big adventure.
I know, there are tons of travel blogs these days. Thousands of people have already done what I’m about to do and written about it, too. Why would you wanna read another quit my job, gone backpacking story? So cliché, right?
It may be cliché, but you know what? Everyone has a different story, different experiences. I am going to share mine and I invite you to stick around.
But that’s not all.
I’m hoping to talk to other backpackers along the way and capture their stories, experiences and advice – in a video format, to make it fun. (For those of you who don’t know me, I am a filmmaker. Sort of.)
This blog isn’t meant to be just about me. It’s meant to inspire others to go out and explore. If you’re thinking of going on a big backpacking trip, I want to show you how to find the courage and do it. I’m a backpacking newbie myself and want to provide some guidance for other first-timers out there.
